BOA stadium put to good use

Posted on: December 20, 2008 10:08 pm
December 27 will mark the second time that the Tarheels have visited BOA stadium in Charlotte NC.  The first time was in the Continental Tire Bowl.  This time in the same bowl game just the name has changed.  Two days after Christmas The Tarheels will travel from Chapel Hill and the Mountaineers will travel from Morgantown in this Big East ACC showdown.  This should be an excellent game and a challenge for both teams.  Charlotte is only about an hour and a half down I-85 from Chapel Hill so this is almost a home game for the heels.  Although West Virginia fans travel well I dont think they can overcome the close proximity to the campus in Chapel Hill to even make this like a neutral site.

BOA stadium put to good use

The scenario is very similar to last year's BCS NCG with LSU having to travel just a couple hours where as Ohio had to travel much further (don't know the distance and don't feel like looking it up). I wish I was going to be able to make it to the game this year. It seems like there can never be a true "neutral site" for a bowl game.  Just another reason why there needs to be a playoff system in place.  Any takers?
